Madame C.J. Walker (aka: Sarah Breedlove) was the 1st women to actually own a business; as a daughter to former slaves, was orphaned at the age of 7, Madame Walker quite literally built her empire out of nothing.
Not many know this: but being empowered as women in business wasn’t 100% guaranteed until 1988 when President Reagan signed the Women's Business Ownership Act into law which created government support for women business owners and eliminating the requirement of “male co-signers” on loans for female entrepreneurs.
So being a female entrepreneur is not anything to take likely - WE’VE COME A LONG WAY, BABY!
There are so many things & events that impact our lives throughout this journey. As women, we face the same difficulties as men face, added by the weight & pressures that all women face, coupled with the craziness of any entrepreneur! Sometimes we laugh through these events, sometimes cry through them, often times praying through them; however, never, in our 7 years of Gallery One Point Fashion, have we ever regretted being here! The journey we took has not been easy; but we faced it and either learned from the mistakes and/or grew from them; always sharing our successes with you along the way.
It is our great honor to celebrate Women In Business this month and reflect on our accomplishments together, learned lessons, and shared successes for the future journey ahead!
